Tim is a warrior.
He has spent his life in service — protecting others, standing between chaos and the community he loves.
I’ve worked professionally with law enforcement for over a decade. In that time, only a rare few have stood out in the way Tim does. Every once in a while — and by that I truly mean rarely — you meet someone whose heart bleeds straight through the armor required to protect and serve. Tim is one of those men.
His rough hands tell the story of decades of labor. But that labor is paralleled by something even more powerful: words and actions that bring salve to those in our community desperate not just for comfort, but for purpose. By some miracle, the world produced one of its toughest creatures — and made him capable of loving the hardest.
For years, I have sent responders and military clients to spend time with Tim. Long before Boots Off the Ground had a name, its spirit was already evident in its founder.
Each time my clients returned from a trip with him, the reports were the same:
“I felt like I could breathe again.”
He never charged a dime.
He gave his time.
He gave his expertise.
And he gave what I call the rarest skill of all — radical listening.
Boots Off the Ground is what every responder program should aspire to be. It is genuine care. It is relatability. It is love expressed in the steady presence of a father figure who understands the weight his participants carry.
It is a place where the rigors demanded of responders are not idolized over the person — but honored, held, and allowed to soften while healing happens. This program saves lives. It is an honor to walk beside my friend as Boots Off the Ground takes flight.
I’m incredibly grateful to have found Boots off the Ground, and Tim. He created this program for people like me, those who have lived through traumatic life events. His years of experience in law-enforcement brings a calm and grounded presence that immediately makes you feel safe and understood. I was able to speak openly about my grief without fear of judgment. Paired with the healing presence of the horses, this experience became the reset I needed to keep moving forward. I am so excited to see where Tim takes this program in the future, his selfless dedication to helping the helpers is what our community needs.
“Tim and Halima are wonderful. I’ve had the opportunity to spend time with the horses and ride a few times with Tim as well as an overnight at the ranch. Their care and attention to detail is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend them and Boots Off The Ground and cannot wait to visit them again.”
My name is Travis Browne, and my time at Boots Off the Ground changed my life in ways I never expected. When I first met Tim, the owner of Boots Off the Ground, I was a broken and lost man silently suffering through two of the hardest events a person can face.
My wife and I had just experienced the sudden late fetal demise of our first child at 37 weeks — a loss that shook us to our core. At the same time, I was carrying deep, unresolved PTSD from my years working as a firefighter. I was exhausted, grieving, and struggling more than I let anyone see.
I had never met Tim before arriving at his ranch and honestly didn’t know what to expect. From the moment we met him, though, something shifted. Tim welcomed us with patience, kindness, and a genuine warmth that made us feel like family. His calm presence and big heart immediately put us at ease. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I was in safe hands.
I had some experience around horses before, but this was different. Being at Boots Off the Ground wasn’t just about riding — it was about healing. There was a moment I’ll never forget: standing with the horses, I felt like they could sense the pain and sadness I was carrying. They came close, calm and gentle, almost as if they were taking that weight from me. It’s hard to explain, but in that space, something inside me finally started to settle.
That night, my wife and I slept deeply for the first time in weeks. We woke the next morning feeling refreshed — something we hadn’t felt since before our loss. Spending the day with the horses and simply being present on the ranch brought a peace I didn’t think was possible. When it came time to leave, neither of us wanted to go.
I am forever grateful for Tim’s hospitality, compassion, and the space he has created at Boots Off the Ground. What started as a visit became a turning point in our healing — and a friendship I truly value. If you are carrying pain, stress, grief, or simply need a place to reconnect with yourself, I cannot recommend Boots Off the Ground enough. It’s more than a ranch — it’s a place where healing begins.
